Introduction to Indigo
Our one-day workshop offers a hands-on introduction to the ancient art of indigo dyeing. Held at our jungle studio surrounded by our own indigo plantation, participants learn the complete process — from understanding the living dye vat to mastering traditional resist techniques.
The day begins with a walk through our indigo gardens, where we explain the cultivation and harvesting of Indigofera tinctoria. We then move into the studio to explore the chemistry and craft of natural indigo — building the vat, reading its colour, and understanding the oxidation process that transforms green to blue.
Participants work with cotton and silk, applying wax-resist and fold-resist techniques to create their own unique textiles. All materials are provided, and each guest takes home their finished pieces.
